My friends Shawn, Jeano, Kari and Gena had a baby shower for Lola yesterday. It was such a beautiful day! We had such a great time, although I wish I could have had one on one time to chat with each of my friends! Lola got many cute things from everyone...Auntie Suzy even gave her a Moncchichi doll and the cutest photo album that is already filled...thank goodness! I've barely printed a picture since I've had digital cameras. Yes "s". I tend to drop them...woops.
Lola will definitely need to be like her mom and change outfits alot...her closet is overflowing!!!! I must say that I feel it is harder to figure out her outfits than my own! Is that bad? She has so many cute outfits, I almost enjoy it when she spits up on them, because then I HAVE to change them and she can wear more outfits in one day! :)
It was Grandma Michelle's first time seeing Lola in person, and when she walked into the room and saw Lola, the tears were flowing! Not only from her, but from me, my mom and my sister! We are such suckers for anything emotional! It was so cute seeing Michelle's reaction, she was thrilled!
It was a great day...and I thank all of my friends for coming to meet Lola! Hopefully she can see you all again really soon!
It is pretty split as to who Lola looks like, Mom or Dad...we even have a few other people, such as my aunt Robin, who Lola is sporting a similar hairstyle (P.S. Robin is married to my dad's brother Tom...):
To me it depends on Lola's look, I see Jeremy sometimes, then I see me....

Or someone else...like Monchhichi? haha
My co-ed volleyball team, Spike it Like a Beer Can, likes to compare hand phones, I have an anteanna :), Davin still uses a rotary phone and Kyp, Gena and Kari are using modern day cell phones:
Well, here is Lola's phone, she has two...
One for listening, she looks very concerned:
One for talking, which Kyp pointed out, she is much happier talking! It looks a little like Davin's phone, don't you think??
Little miss Lola does not sleep so well at night. That is until I received a text from my friend Trish saying she had a solution for us. I called her immediately. Check out this website and watch the video: www.miracleblanket.com
It is AMAZING!!! Our little Lola had earned the nickname Houdini after breaking out of every possible swaddle we could do. Every time we thought "this is the one you will not be able to break out of." Jeremy would get up, walk around to my side of the bed where the bassinet is located and wrap her up like a burrito. By the time he would walk around to his side again, she would be out. One arm, both arms, arms and legs. Every time.
But no more, the miracle blanket is truly just that...a miracle! We have gotten up to 6 hours of uninterupted sleep thanks to it. (Please note that Houdini did break out of this one time when we erroneously wrapped the inner flaps a bit too loosely. That has not happened since!) She does try to break out of the straight jacket when she wakes up after several hours of sleeping, but she doesn't cry strangely enough...it is just alot of grunting and teeny little squawks. It is so cute.
Last night I snapped some shots of Lola sleeping oh so soundly in her miracle blanket.
The pink camo is in honor of her dad. Her hair is wild from just having a bath about an hour earlier! She hates baths, but likes it when it is over! Her hair looks like feathers!
I can only imagine how good it feels to be released from the blanket after having your arms wrapped tightly up against your body all night. This one looks like she is pleading "please do not put me back in that straight jacket, I can finally stretch my arms out!!!!":
Projectile poop and puke are getting to be commonplace in our house as a topic and event.
About a week ago I was changing Lola's diaper on our downstairs changing station. I thought she was done pooping...but oh no, not so much. She continued to poop about 4 more times with her diaper off, and the last one was like the surprise drinking fountain, where you lean over too close to take a drink only to have water shot into your face. That last poop shot over the changing station and onto the floor. Now that's a surprise, right Kariola? The aftermath of this was enough to put mom into tears.
The same day, we had a spit up session that covered her entire body, my shirt, my pants and part of the couch. Needless to say, I was in tears. It looked like 2 bottles worth of milk.
Today was like deja vu....only this time the poop session happened twice! Once in the morning, followed by a big spit up session. This again was like a drinking fountain, but it hit my shirt, hand, and seriously went 4 feet past me after I dodged out of the way. Then again in the afternoon..where the poop ended up on my cheek and on my chest and pants after she pooped right in my hand.
I took pictures of these incidents as proof to Lola someday. I will spare you all the details of the poop, but here is a spit up shot!!
Lola had her very first chiropractor appointment when we were at Tom & Robin's cabin on Ottertail Lake this past weekend. This is to help with her fussiness. It was a miniature shorter version of an adult adjustment!
First you work on the back a little. check out the spine..
Then you change position to work on the spine some more! Lola likey!!
Then you get flipped upside down to give the spine a little stre-e-e-e-e-tch!!!
Back to the floor again....
A final twist and turn....
And finish it off with a little lovin'!
Lola recommends Tom Wilson for all your Babies Chiropractic needs! (There's Wilson peaking over the fence!)
We took our first trip out of town this past weekend to Garrison, MN. Jen & Rob invited us up to Jen's parent's new lake home. Lola slept the ENTIRE drive up to the lake, which was fantastic! It was about a 4 hour drive with traffic, so it was great not to have any drama in the truck!
Bill & Trish's new house was beautiful! We stayed in the bonus room above the garage which was adorable and nice and private. Good thing for us since Lola doesn't sleep so well at night. Best not to wake up the entire house with her screaming at night! :) Rob even made special omelettes for breakfast...we only bugged him a little about popping the question to Jen this weekend. Really, you already live together and are looking for a house. Get movin' Rob!
Lola was a big hit with Jen's family! She had them at hello! I think Trish wins the prize for longest and most serious cuddle, she was crying she was so happy to hold Lola! It was so cute!
A good time was had by all, Lola was really good all weekend and we can't wait to go back for another visit. Hint hint! :)
hahahha that is the best. That actually JUST happened, only at home. She was sitting my lap working on a... read more
